Freelancing

Freelancing

Have you ever considered working from home? I had to. In fact, I was so desperate for money at the time, that I was even considering driving 2 hours to Adelaide just to earn the amount of money it would have cost in petrol… crazy! The mind works in mysterious ways when placed in those pressure cooker situations.

So I started googling ‘working from home’ which eventually led me to ‘freelancing from home’ and onto Elance. I was skeptical at first, because you hear of some ‘work from home’ schemes that are dodgy, but after much researching I decided that I was onto a winner and boy was I glad that I did!

Unlike oDesk, Elance gives you access to tens of thousands of jobs from employers who are willing to pay for talented and hard working freelancers. Not to mention the variety of jobs and the fantastic platform that they have developed. Functions like each job having its own workroom with space to upload and share documents with clients, tests that you can take in order to provide evidence of your skill-set, as well as a portfolio on your profile.

Check out my public profile here.

I have even started expanding my skills and am now doing voice-overs and producing video tutorials, lines of work I had never considered before. Here’s a sample of my work:

If you would like more information about working online through Elance, please do not hesitate to contact me or have a look for yourself through my official Elance landing page. After all, how many jobs do you know where you can rock up wearing your PJs and favourite slippers, without make-up and juggling a baby on your lap?

Hi, your work sounds fascinating, and I too need a job where I can work from home. I have 2 teenaged kids, but am also a carer for my mum. Also recently have had to start helping my sister and her 2 kids as my sister was recently diagnosed with brain and lung cancer. So would live more information eg. on how much it costs to join and how one would join and get the work and such. Thanks so much.
